Review: Kaiba Playmat and Official Konami Sleeves

A double review? Yep, a double review. Right now I'll be reviewing the official card sleeves (with the Yu-Gi-Oh! card backing) and a Gold Series 4 Playmat, specifically Kaiba's playmat.

From here it looks pretty decent, it'a got a very nice layout aswell. You get to see Kaiba featured with two of his best monsters. I personally really like this design, mainly because I like the Blue-Eyes white Dragon. It has space for all the card zones, with the exception of the Banished Zone. It's length is essentially the same as the paper playmats found in the Starter Decks. The downside is that it does feel quite small compared to the bigger playmats out there. That shouldn't be too big of a problem though, but it really limits your usage of it to just Yu-Gi-Oh! It's still quite good to have though, it is a playmat anyone can afford. It's made of a nice material, and rolls up easily; making it very portable. It does have one draw-back that takes time to work out - being ruffled. It may sound like an odd way to say it, but when you pull the mat out of the box; it has probably spent days, even weeks folded into a pyramid shape to fit that small Gold Series 4 box. Over time, it will flatten out, but as you can see from mine, it might take a while to occur. Unless ya wanna go at it for a few hours then be my guest. It isn't too big of an issue, it can just get a bit irritating.

As for it's variety; the Yugi mat could have been a bit more dynamic like the Kaiba one, the same can be said for the Yugi VS Kaiba one; it would be much nicer to have a pure Dark Magician Girl mat as one of the options. Quite sure a large amount of players would agree with me on that for obvious reasons.

Conclusion

Pros:
- Very nice mat
- Good quality
- Affordable
- Has official artwork

Cons:
- Takes a while to flatten out
- It's from Gold Series 4
- The other two could be better, but that's my personal preference.
- Smaller than most playmats.

Overall I give this mat a 7/10. Konami should make more and give us a nice variety~

Now then, onto the card sleeves.

I think I'll start by saying that these are VERY lovely sleeves. They're of a nice quality, and the cards fit very snug into the sleeve and don't cause too big of a pile when you shuffle your deck. The only downside I found was that they can really jab your hands when you shuffle. I don't know why but I really never feel that with other sleeves. I recommend these regardless though, they look quite neat and can give the gameplay a nice genuine look.

Conclusion

Pros:
- The sleeves look great.
- They are firm and very good at protecting your cards.
- Snug fit makes it perfect for shuffling.

Cons:
- The edges and material might jab your hands at times, might just be me though.

I give these sleeves a 10/10, they're perfect for any Yu-Gi-Oh! player.
